205. Where Therapy and Interior Design Meet with Anita Yokota

Did you know that your physical space can help you with your mental health journey? Today we are speaking with Anita Yokota, former mental health therapist turned interior designer. Anita shares her story of how practicing as a marriage and family therapist for over 20 years before pivoting her career into interior design allowed her to realize the importance of how your space feels. She is also the author of the best selling book Home Therapy.

Do you feel insecure about your home? Are you nervous to do any improvements because you’re afraid you might ruin it? Or you want to do all the things because you're hosting this upcoming holiday season? Anita teaches you how to be somewhere in the middle. She also explains what the four domains are from her book and how we should be using them to find more peace and joy in our homes.

Anita walks us through how we can feel good in our homes during the little kid years without breaking the budget. She recommends things like changing the paint color in a room to help a space feel more calm and less chaotic. She also touches on how you can compromise if you share a space with someone who has a different vision than yours when it comes to decorating.
